Park Ridge DDS Chatters on About the Definition of a Sexy Smile

Today on Word of Mouth Wednesday, we are looking for your input.  I have been given a challenge and I need your help.

Kari Sharp is a successful entrepreneur as owner of Camp Bow Wow McHenry, an amazing and delightful doggie day care, boarding and grooming facility and I am honored that she is a dear friend.   Kari and I have been having an ongoing conversation about thinking outside of the box with regards to our businesses.   Intuitively one would say, what do a doggie day care facility and a dental office have in common that would create conversation.  And, in a way, that is the point.   There are no limits, no rules , no boundaries when you allow yourselves to think outside of the box.

Today Kari challenged me with taking on the concept of the “Sexy Smile”.  The “Sexy Smile” is a subjective concept.  My idea of a “sexy smile” is going to be different than your idea of a “sexy smile”.  A “sexy smile” can be as simple as the feeling you get right after having your teeth cleaned at the dentist.  A “sexy smile” can be having your teeth whitened at the dentist.  A “sexy smile” can be gorgeous porcelain veneers placed on your front teeth for that Hollywood star look.  A “sexy smile” creates self confidence.   So, my question to you is what is your definition of a “sexy smile”?  Is it something that you want to achieve?   Do you feel that your smile is sexy? If so, why? If not, why not? What is “sexy”? How can we as your dental office at Family Dental Care Park Ridge promote a “sexy smile”?

Post your answers as comments to this blog. Post your answers on my Facebook Page Park Ridge DDS.  Email me with your thoughts at info@ParkRidgeDDS.com But please, share.  I want to know what your definition of the “sexy smile” is.   The results may end up being phenomenally sexy!!

A Sexy Smile to me is more than just the teeth, although white, straight, aligned teeth don't hurt one bit!
It's the face that make a sexy smile. The lips are the frame, the nose directs you not only to the smile, but also to the eyes which gives the smile an added level of meaning.
Maybe you could have a place for others to add their own sexy smiles in picture form!

Tim, I agree. The smile is just one ingredient in the recipe of a sexy smile. You need to add a dash of all facial features as well as personality to create that *sexy smile* Thank you for sharing your recipe for the *sexy smile*. AND thank you for the suggestion to allow people to share their own pictures of sexy smiles. I will work on that ;-D

It's interesting you bring this up. My husband and I both have the same veneered front tooth which was obviously matched to the color of our other teeth when they were inserted. We've both been interested in whitening processes to make our smiles "sexier", but have been told that the whitening would only whiten our real teeth and not our veneered ones. Is there any way around this besides replacing the veneer with a whiter one and then committing to routine whitening???

And on a sidenote - this was an awesome video blog and your smile looked stupendous!!!

Heather...thanks for your comment. What you have been told is correct....porcelain, which is what most veneers are made of, does not whiten. Often what happens is when a porcelain restoration has been placed a number of years ago, it is matched to the person's younger and therefore whiter teeth so that, as we get older and our teeth get more yellow, the porcelain restoration is actually the one that is whiter than our older yellower teeth. So, sometimes, whitening our natural teeth can bring it back up to the lighter porcelain shade. If the veneer is made of resin, that CAN discolor and get more yellow with teas, coffees, wines etc so that in THAT case, replacement of the veneer to bring it back to the shade you like is your solution. If that is what you and your husband need to do, I would suggest whitening for a couple of weeks first to get your teeth to the whiteness you like and THEN have your new veneer restoration matched to those pearly whites so that you both can have that amazing sexy smile!! ;-D

Have to admit that after a laser whitening treatment a few years ago I felt like a million bucks! Really increased my confidence.

Whitening is probably one of the quickest and easiest ways to change up our smiles so that we can really feel good about ourselves....and sexy!! I love whitening as an option to feel like I have a sexy smile. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!!! ;-D <-- *sexy smile*
