ParkRidgeDDS on Goals for 2011

So, today is January 1, 2011.  A day for setting goals, making changes and starting fresh.  My mantra of late has been to think outside of the box…the farther outside of the box, the better.  My industry, the dental care industry, sometimes seems as if it is stuck in a rut.  I am determined to get it unstuck by trying different ideas.  One of those ideas that has been lurking around in my head for some time now has been to start video blogging.  The contests that I created called “Where in the World is ParkRidgeDDS” was my first foray into using video on my website.  You will note, however, that I remained behind the camera and did not venture in front of the lens.  For many reasons (therapists may be intrigued ) I have avoided facing the camera.  A friend who has become dear to me, Gini Dietrich was kind enough to use my suggestion for her “Facebook Question of the Day” this week in her blog Spin Sucks…”If you took 10 giant steps outside of your comfort zone box, what would you love to do in 2011 that your discomfort has thus far prevented you from doing?”  It had been a question that I was struggling with in regards to just getting out and doing a video blog.  I guess I needed to hear about what other people are struggling with in their attempts to think outside of the proverbial box.  The responses were heartfelt, compelling and just what I needed to give me a jump start.  It turns out, no matter how together we seem to others on the outside, we all have secret fears that stop us from doing certain things…things we may really WANT to do!! And, when I fessed up about my desire to take on video blogging with a passion, Gini Dietrich from Arment Dietrich gave me that little push with three simple words…just do it.  And so, here is my first video blog…the first of many, I hope.  Please let me know your thoughts…suggestions about video blogging, your thoughts about your own goals for 2011 or even about the things that have stopped you.
